Above the Troutbeck Inn

Some strenuous, off-piste-bushwhacking required to reach rocks protruding far enough from the dense pine forest to give unobstructed views. The forest had been previously burnt / logged and all the detritus left behind through which the latest trees have grown. So, movement requires balancing on old logs suspended and covered in pine needles, with occasional collapses or loss of footing and sudden drops, all the while struggling between the immature trees and their branches. Anyway, you have to experience it to believe how exhausting it is! The first, more distant pics, are from the previous day – higher up on the Connemara side.
